Welcome to Black Dog Tavern

The Black Dog Story

The Wright family, including Einstein (The Black Dog), welcomes you to the Black Dog Tavern. We hope you enjoy your time here and come back again and again.

When Ted Pasko and I purchased Deer Ridge Golf Course in 2003 the “clubhouse” was a double wide trailer. In 2005 we made the decision to build a new structure to house the restaurant and banquet facility.

The Tavern was originally named for T-Bone, a beloved member of our family for 12 years. You will see many pictures of him on the walls as he loved to have his picture taken.

Bentley was a very special dog that joined us in September of 2016. He was a rescue because of an affliction known as Mega Esophagus. He had to eat in a high chair so gravity could do the work his esophagus couldn’t to get the food to his stomach.

Einstein joined the Black Dog family on Halloween in 2023. He came to us from the Richland County Dog Warden and Adoption Center where they took great care of him and the other dogs. If you are ever looking for a new family member it’s a great place to start.

A friend who knew I had golf course experience but no restaurant background asked what our goal was for the restaurant. The answer is quite simple:

When people talk about the Black Dog they say “We love that place!”

Please let us know if we are reaching our goal and, more importantly, if we aren’t.

And if you haven’t met Einstein yet, ask if he is here. He loves to meet new friends!
